Review: Awaken Me by Emily Gossett

Awaken Me by Emily Gossett (A Connected Novel #1)

Book description (from Goodreads) –

After witnessing her fiancée murder her best friend two days before her wedding, Aimee decides to immediately flee from the life she only knows. Lost in a foreign city, Aimee comes in contact with a mysteriously handsome Italian stranger, who seems to know more about Aimee, than Aimee knows about herself. Quickly discovering that the last six years of her life have been a cover up to who she really is and where she came from. Aimee’s world, before her eyes , becomes a tsunami of conflicted emotions, undecidedly torn between two men whom she loves deeply. Aimee, ultimately finds her true identity, which is more lethal than either men, being the weapon the Rogues desire most. Aimee is anything but human.

ARC Review

At her engagement party, Aimee, witnesses the man she is about to marry kill her best friend. In complete shock as to what she has just witnessed, Aimee, does the only thing she can think of…she runs, leaving behind the only family she has ever known. For Aimee can only remember the past six years of her life, the years she has spent with Derek (her fiancée) and his family due to an accident which caused her to loose her memory.

Abandonning her engagement party, Aimee realizes, that she is alone in Greece and is undecisive about what she should do…should she go home to Florida or go somewhere else? Her decision is made easier when she meets Alec. Although she has just met Alec, she feels safe and comfortable around him and accepts his offer of help.

Soon, Aimee discovers, that not only have the past six years of her life been based on a lie but that she is also caught between two supernatural worlds, which both Derek and Alec are a part of.

I absolutely loved Awaken Me. From the opening paragraph to the very last line I was enthralled. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen, I just wanted to keep reading and reading. The storyline is fantastic, as in the writing. Author, Emily Gossett, has a way of making you feel like you are right there with the charcters, especially Aimee. I think the reason for this is because the novel is written so well. It is very descriptive, giving the reader the opportunity to learn and understand the characters and their personalities.

The main character, Aimee, is very likeable, she is strong and brave and it is very easy to connect with her. I also really enjoyed reading about the secondary characters, all of which add something to the story. Besides Aimee, my favourite character is Alec. He is romantic, patient and kind, all the things I look for in a male character. Many of my favourite scenes were the ones that featured conversations between Alec and Aimee. I thought the banter between them was just brilliant.

Awaken Me is a story full of action, mystery and romance, one that I enjoyed reading. Keep an eye out for this novel as it is going to be available soon. When you do buy a copy, clear your schedule for 24 hours because you won’t be able to tear your eyes away from it.

5/5
