Author Interview: Katie McGarry

I’m super excited to share with you all my interview with Katie McGarry, author of the amazing novel Pushing the Limits.  I loved, loved, loved Pushing the Limits; I highly recommend it – my fav read of the year so far, and my all time fav contemporary novel.  To read my review, just click here.  A big thank you to Harlequin Teen Australia and Morey Media for the opportunity to interview Katie McGarry. And, of course, a big thank you to Katie McGarry.

Would you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a stay-at-home mom, a reality TV freak, and a University of Kentucky basketball fan. I’m also a sucker for an amazing love story.

Do you have a favourite place where you like to write?

My front porch swing. I love the feel of the sun on my skin and the creaking sound of the swing. Somehow, those elements help my creativity.

I absolutely loved reading Echo and Noah’s story; one of the many things that I loved so much was how Echo and Noah found strength in each other. What do you feel are the biggest lessons that Echo and Noah learn from each other?

Noah helps Echo with her confidence and she quickly learns how to stand up for herself. Echo helps Noah realize that he can hope for more than living day to day. Together, they teach each other how to trust and love again.

There were so many scenes in Pushing the Limits that I found very moving. Do you have an all time favourite scene, and/or is there a particular line from the novel that is extra special to you?

Echo and Noah playing pool was definitely my favorite to write. I absolutely adore their banter, the sexual tension, and how Echo blows Noah out of the water with her pool playing capabilities. Of course, Noah edges unbelievably close to Echo, places his hands on her body, and…well…you’ll have to read the book to find out what happens next. 🙂

Your next novel, Dare You To, is about Beth (one of Noah’s friends in Pushing the Limits) – is there anything about Beth’s story that you can share with us?

In DARE YOU TO you can expect romance, old wounds resurfacing, humor, action, and a lot of kissing. DARE YOU TO is scheduled to be released in 2013.

I remember the pool scene that Katie is talking about.  That is just one of the many reasons why Pushing the Limits is amazing.  I’m really excited about Dare You To; I can’t wait to read Beth’s story.

Say hello at @EchoEmerson and @HutchinsNoah

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with “freaky” scars on her arms. Even Echo can’t remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal.

But when Noah Hutchins–the smoking hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket–explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo’s world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she’ll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

On sale now at and in books stores nationally for the RRP AU$19.99.
