Belladonna Blog Tour: Character Interview with Falco

Hi all.  *smiles and waves hello*  Today, I have the pleasure of welcoming author Fiona Paul to the blog as part of the Australian blog tour for Belladonna, book #2 in the awesome Secrets of the Eternal Rose series.  Fiona has kindly shared an interview between herself and Falco, one of the main characters in the series.  In the interview, Falco opens up a little about love and his feelings for Cass.  A big thank you to Fiona for sharing Falco with Treasured Tales and to Amanda from Harper Collins Australia for arranging the blog tour.  And, of course, a big thank you to Falco.  😀

~ Fun with Falco: Fiona gets Venice’s hottie artist to open up about his feelings on love ~

FalcoDo you believe in love at first sight?

Falco: It’s a lovely notion, but I think believing in love at first sight is akin to believing in faeries or vampires, and you know how I feel about supernatural things. Love is something that requires time and nurturing to develop.

And Cass, what did you think when you first saw her?

Falco: I thought she was…different. She was properly coiffed and looked the part of a noblewoman (until I knocked her into a puddle, anyway) but there was a wildness to her, some deeper part that was longing to break free. I just wanted to unlock her, to cut her bindings and watch her fly.

Do you love her?

Falco: Mannaggia! No one told me these questions were going to be so difficult. Yes, I suppose I do love her. Alas, in my time love is a trivial thing when it comes to a union of two people. I fear there is no possibility for us to be together, given our societal stations.

But if you love her, then why did you leave her to go to Florence? In my world, a guy fights for the girl he loves.

Falco: I cannot sacrifice my life’s work for a woman who might never be mine. I wished her to accompany me, but she could not do so. I went first for the art, but also because some part of me thinks that perhaps if I become a highly successful artist that there is a chance Cassandra and I can be together someday.

Is Cassandra your first love?

Falco: No. I shall tell you more about my first love…in a book called Starling.

Do you think you’re better for her than Luca da Peraga?

Falco: Yes. Luca da Peraga seems to be a fine upstanding nobleman, but Cassandra needs someone who will challenge her, a man who will unleash all of the different colours of her persona instead of trying to contain her in a single palette.

I just loved Falco’s answers.  Have you read Venom or the sequel Belladonna?  Who do you hope Cass chooses – Falco or Luca?

Belladonna (2)

Belladonna (Secrets of the Eternal Rose #2) by Fiona Paul

Book description (from Goodreads) –

Cassandra Caravello is trying to forget Falco, the wild artist who ran off with her heart, as she grows closer to her strong, steady fiancé, Luca. But Luca seems to have his own secrets. When he′s arrested by soldiers in the middle of the night, Cass′s life is once again thrown into chaos. She must save Luca, and that means finding the Book of the Eternal Rose — the only evidence that will prove he is innocent.

So begins her journey to Florence, a city haunted by whispers of corruption, secret soirees and clandestine meetings of the Order of the Eternal Rose. And home to Falco, who′s working for the Order′s eerily stunning leader, the Belladonna herself.

Can Cass trust her heart to lead her to the truth this time?

Nothing is as it seems in this seductive thriller, where the truth may be the deadliest poison of all…
