Book description (from Goodreads) –

Never, ever cry….Eureka Boudreaux’s mother drilled that rule into her daughter years ago. But now her mother is gone, and everywhere Eureka goes he is there: Ander, the tall, pale blond boy who seems to know things he shouldn’t, who tells Eureka she is in grave danger, who comes closer to making her cry than anyone has before.

But Ander doesn’t know Eureka’s darkest secret: ever since her mother drowned in a freak accident, Eureka wishes she were dead, too. She has little left that she cares about, just her oldest friend, Brooks, and a strange inheritance—a locket, a letter, a mysterious stone, and an ancient book no one understands. The book contains a haunting tale about a girl who got her heart broken and cried an entire continent into the sea. Eureka is about to discover that the ancient tale is more than a story, that Ander might be telling the truth…and that her life has far darker undercurrents than she ever imagined.

From Lauren Kate comes an epic saga of heart-stopping romance, devastating secrets, and dark magic…a world where everything you love can be washed away.

To be released:  22nd October 2013

This book has me really intrigued.  It sounds like it might be a story about The Lost City of Atlantis.  I’m loving the cover.  Lauren Kate’s books always have lovely covers.

What book are you waiting on this Wednesday?

Rapture by Lauren Kate Blog Tour: Interview with Lauren Kate

Hello everyone. Today, I am very excited to share with you an interview with Lauren Kate, author of the amazing Fallen series. This interview is featured as part of the Australian Rapture blog tour, and Treasured Tales for Young Adults has been given the honour of starting the tour. *exciting* A big thank you to Lauren Kate for the interview and to Random House Australia, especially Dot, for organising the Rapture blog tour.

All the covers of the Fallen novels are so beautiful. Did you have any influence over the designs?

Working with my publisher’s design department to choose the perfect image for each book gave me a very specific kind of perspective. Often after writing the books, I still don’t really know what they’re about. Matching a visual concept to the text helps to connect the mystical gap between the writing of a story and the essence that story evokes when it’s complete. We were very lucky to have enlisted the help of the phenomenally talented Fernanda Brussi Goncalves from Brazil. Her images were the perfect fit for Luce and Daniel’s story.

When writing Rapture did you listen to music for inspiration?

I’m actually listening to a Rapture playlist right now that will be available on playlist.com. It’s got songs from the Magnetic Fields, Lucinda Williams, The Zombies, Fleetwood Mac, Christina Perry, and Gotye to name a few.

Out of all the books in the Fallen series what would be your all-time favourite line?

“Before there was light, there were angels.” I would say more about how much I enjoyed inventing those final scenes in Rapture—but I don’t want to give any spoilers.

Was it a bitter sweet moment when you wrote the final sentence in Rapture, knowing that it was the final book in the Fallen series?

The actual ending of the series is so right for the characters that I actually found it really satisfying to compose. There were moments earlier on in the book when I wept—a first for me. I know there will be moments in the future when I miss some of the characters—not Luce and Daniel, I don’t think (we really said goodbye to each other on the best terms). But for now, I’m looking toward the future, toward new characters and new worlds and new love stories.

How would you describe the Fallen series in one sentence?

This is the hardest question you can ever ask a novelist. We’re not known for our glibness…that’s why we write 400+ page stories. I do really like the last line included in the Australian trailer for Rapture: “When the world ends, trust your love, trust love, love.”

I hope you enjoyed the interview. Are you looking forward to reading Rapture? Do you have a theory as to how the series will end?
